9:30 Breakfast Boys and girls each have their own dining hall. The boys dining hall is a large stone room, the boys sit cross legged on the floor in long row each with a metal dish with four compartments. The cooks walk up and down the rows with a huge metal bucket ladling out daal (lentil curry) and curried vegetables to each pupil, to be eaten with the rotis and rice. The vegetables are grown in ‘Our Agriculture’ fields using organic methods. Potatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, red carrots, egg plant, okra and other vegetables are tended to in part by the children. Many of the children are from agricultural backgrounds, so these skills will be useful in later life. |
